To
honor August as National Quality Water Month and today as National Bad Poetry
Day, the East African Rural Development Foundation (EARDF) is selling made-to-order limericks
for $3 to fund its efforts to bring clean
water to drought-ridden rural Somalia.
- Somalia is suffering from a
decades-long drought that has killed hundreds of thousands of people.…
- Poetry is one of the best-loved art
forms in Somalia, and Somalis enjoy all genres – even the lowly limerick, which
they affectionately call jacbur. So
when Raghe Ahmed, EARDF’s founder, heard that today celebrates both good water
and “bad” poetry, he knew what EARDF had to do – sell limericks to fund its
wells.
